BFL Football Pool Ready for 29th Season of Play!

First 2024 Picks Due Thursday, September 5, at 8 p.m. EDT at https://TeamBFL.com

FOOTBALL TOWN, U.S.A. - The BFL - the premier NFL football pool in motorsports and beyond - is ready for its amazing 29th season and you can register your opening picks now at https://teambfl.com/. Launched in 1996 as an NFL office pool at CART Headquarters in Troy, Michigan, the BFL is still going strong entering its 29th year of friendly competition this year.

Thanks to all who have been so loyal and dedicated over the years, including the small group of us now "seniors tour" players who started with the BFL in that very first season on hand-written pick sheets with $5 bills paper clipped to them.

We all must start the season with a well-deserved thank you to technical wizard Marc "Marcus Blade" Matlen and our supreme accountant Karen "AKA KIP" Tardich for being the two people who really do all of the work to keep the BFL going.

The BFL has grown and stayed strong over the years, and several dozen players from around the country have regularly participated the last few years. Welcome back to all of you who have played before, and the BFL is also open to any and all new players. Feel free to invite your friends and family.

Huge congratulations to 2023 BFL Champion Martin "Redhawk Tackle" Lim who became the first three-time BFL Champion in the league's nearly 30-year history. He was challenged to the end, however, by reigning champ Andrea "Icecream Everyday" Paterson and fellow BFL Leading Lady Rena "Mrs. Backmarker" Tenorio who both hit the top-three podium for the second-year in a row. This time around, Backmarker grabbed P2 honors with Icecream taking the third-place showing.

Rules and Details for 2024 below and good luck in the BFL this year!

*The official league site can be found at https://teambfl.com or www.teambfl.com (Without the www. loads faster).

*Weekly fee is $5, payable only in two installments - Half Season ($45.00) or Full Season ($90.00).

Payment is by check to Karen "AKA Kip"Tardich at:

Karen Tardich

577 E. Kennett

Pontiac, MI 48340

Payment by Venmo can be sent to: @Adam-Saal-1

*Returning players who want to use the same name and password should already be re-registered and ready to go! If you want to make any changers or can’t remember your password, shoot an email to Blade at marc@teambfl.com with "password reset and user name" in the subject line. Send any of those emails sooner rather than later and Blade will get you hooked up.

*The BFL is a confidence points pool. The objective is to pick the winner of each game played on each weekend while allocating points to each game based on the number of games played. So, in a 16-game week (always check the total number of games being played each week!), you would pick each game’s winner and then rank each game from 1 to 16. Games you believe will be blowouts should get the highest points allocation (16, 15, 14, etc.), while games that seem to be too close to call should get the lower point allocations (3, 2, 1, etc.). You earn points only for the games you win.

*The player accumulating the most points each week is that week’s winner. The player accumulating the most points in the season wins the championship.

*No spreads are used. Make your picks based on outright wins and total score, not against the line.

*Every weekend of play counts toward the championship. The old throw-out week rule was done away with long ago. All 18 weeks of play count.

*Your weekly pick sheet and entry must be filed on time in order to play. The pick sheet deadline is at the top of the hour before the first game of each week. For example, next Thursday's season-opener kicks off at 8:20 p.m. EDT so the site locks at 8 p.m. EDT.

*The BFL has a zero-tolerance late-pick policy. If in doubt, fill it out early in the week and send it in.

*Weekly ties are broken by the combined score of each week’s Monday Night Football game. Be sure to fill that out on each week’s pick sheet. In the event a further weekly tiebreaker is needed, the Detroit Lions game’s combine score is used. We will pick an alternative game when the Lions are on Bye.

*Championship ties will be broken by total season weekly wins down through highest weekly finishes.

*If an actual game(s) within a weekend’s schedule is postponed, and BFL players have picked and allocated points for that game(s) in a weekly pick sheet, those points will come into play if and when the game(s) is played. If necessary, that week’s payout will be held until the postponed game(s) can be played and a clear weekly BFL winner can be determined. If the game(s) is cancelled outright (remember Bills vs. Bengals two seasons ago!), no points will be allocated or reinstated.

*In the event a full weekend of actual play is postponed, The Commish ATOM will make the sole determination as to the best course of action for the BFL.

*It is OK to have a team of people for a single entry but no one may be involved in more than one team, individually or in a group. No double dipping!

*All disputes will be decided by The Commish ATOM, and every year a new and entirely unexpected one emerges! Remember, sportsmanship and fair play will be at the foundation of all decisions.

*A weekly prize fund and season-long bonus pool are up for grabs. Each week’s winner receives 90% of that week’s purse. 10% of each week’s pot goes into the season-long pool which pays 60% to the winner, 30% to the runner-up and 10% to third place at the end of the season.

*Join us now at https://teambfl.com or www.teambfl.com.

Good luck!
